SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE
We are currently accepting submissions of new writing to
be considered for both the showcase and the development
network. There is no deadline for submissions as various
development opportunities will be available to selected
shows throughout 2009 and we are already considering shows
for the 2009 West End Showcase. A decision will be made
on the selected shows for the 2008 November West End showcase
by the end of September so submissions intended for the
2008 showcase only would need to be submitted by the end
of August.
SUMMER PITCHING DAYS
This Summer we started holding “Pitching Days” for
writers to present their work and have an opportunity to meet
the Perfect Pitch Panel in person. The writers can bring along
a small cast to perform an extract form their show or they
can simply use the opportunity to play us some of the material
on CD and chat to us about the journey of their piece so far
and their future visions for it. We held three pitching days
in London and one in Edinburgh. We hope to hold further sessions
either towards the end of this year or at the beginning of
next year. In the mean time we are always accepting submissions
as hard copies to the office address.
WHAT TO CONSIDER WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR WORK
There is no strict criteria surrounding the submission of any
musical you wish to be considered for Perfect Pitch and work
can be at any stage of completion to be considered for the
development network but the West End Showcase will present
all shows as a 45-minute one-act piece and will only showcase
fully developed completed shows ready for commercial production.
All work submitted to Perfect Pitch Musicals Ltd must include
at least one British Writer in the creative team.
All submissions are considered
by a panel of industry professionals with the final decisions
made by Andy Barnes. He is especially interested in new innovative
British writing that has commercial potential and could generate
a new audience for British Musical
Try and provide as much information
about the piece as possible. The history, who has been involved
so far, any previous try-outs or workshops, what are your aims
for the piece etc. If you have a creative team involved provide
brief biographies about them and the role they are playing
in the development of the piece. Having no creative team in
place will NOT count against you in any way. Part of the support
Perfect Pitch offers is to help find the right collaborators
for you.
When submitting the work, explain
why you want to present it in Perfect Pitch? What do you hope
to achieve from it? And what are your aims for the piece in
the longer term? If your show is chosen for the Network Development
you will benefit from the many opportunities our Perfect Pitch
Partners have to offer to progress your piece. If selected
at any stage for the West End Showcase your material will be
seen by a host of influential industry professionals including
producers, venues and directors. Songs that are included in
the Musicals Concert will be seen by new audiences nationwide.
A small percentage of the Writers
royalties that may accrue in the event of future commercial
productions of your show will, for an agreed period, be paid
to Perfect Pitch Musicals Ltd to support the new emerging composers – or
maybe your own latest new production!
